chi spacca

better late than never, right?
i've been here few months ago but i haven't gotten around to introducing this spot to you yet!

located right around osteria mozza, chi spacca is nancy silverton, mario batali & joe bastianich's newest addition to their osteria mozza empire that focuses on "meat" with a unique italian twist

first impression of the restaurant was that it was a lot smaller than expected as it was barely visible from the streets! because it only sits about 30, we also had to wait quite a bit even with a reservation and our group ended up getting seated around 9pm! but i really enjoyed the homey feel of the restaurant that was not pretentious at all & absolutely loved their open kitchen where we got to see how the chefs were preparing our food!

i actually visited this restaurant back in august when it was just about 6-months old but after meeting nancy silverton herself during hell's kitchen finale taping, i've been meaning hurry up and write a post on chi spacca!

according to their website, highlights of chi spacca include a menu of insalate, house-cured salumi like finocchiona, and contorni such as cauliflower alla piastra with crushed lemon bagna cauda (which was sold out when we went), beef and pork mains like roasted double pork chop, red wattle pork segreto, and bistecca alla fiorentina
on saturday nights, chi spacca will offer a five-course tasting menu as well

here is their current menu
