trip to incheon chinatown

the only time i've been to incheon was whenever i was passing through the incheon airport flying in & out of korea
so this time, we decided to explore incheon just a bit, mainly their chinatown on one of the coldest days while i was in korea

since i've been to bigger "chinatowns" in the states, the town didn't impress me much, but their FOOD was exceptional! seriously...their koreanized-chinese food was so good that i want to visit again just to eat! just make sure to look for restaurants owned by real chinese descendants to experience the more authentic flavors

i did end up catching a cold from that day which lasted me good 3~4 weeks or so to recover fully...
...but i am already missing the "winter" season!

bowl of warmth

it's been relatively "cold"...los angeles weather wise...
and on a "cold" day like today, all i want is a bowl of warmth...a bowl of hot soup that can make me cozy inside!

today, it's a simple bowl of bean sprouts soup!
this is another one of those places that i look forward to going in korea because it's so clean & delicious!

2nd best place in seoul

it's almost lunch time and i am sure everyone is hungry & some have growling stomach ;)
so!
after the best kimchee noodle at snow tree house, i finally got to try "2nd best place in seoul (literal translation)"

this famous spot was recommended by my parents for years (i mean..it was around since 1976!) but since i am not a big fan of the red bean soup, i didn't really feel the need to go & wait in line!
however, now that i am 'older', i wanted to have open mind and see what all the hype is about!

it was freezing cold. there was a long line. the place is tiny.
but i still had to try it!
..................and i am so glad i insisted on it! because..................
O-M-G!
COULD IT BE ONE OF THE MOST MEMORABLE FOOD IN KOREA?

again, i don't like red bean soup and i am not a huge fan of red bean!
but this was just amazing!
it wasn't as sweet as i expected and had perfect amount of cinnamon flavor that really made the soup...well, amazing!
they were also very generous with toppings which included huge rice cake, chestnuts and ginkyo nut!
all for 6000won which is about $6

so why the "2nd best place in seoul" instead of 1st best?
supposedly best place is your own home, so they are technically the best place where you can purchase the red bean soup from all of seoul ;)

even though we were full, i am so glad we didn't share!
yes! one per person is a MUST at this place ;)

i am now happilyfull ♥

best kimchee noodle...ever!

if there is one restaurant i ALWAYS go whenever i visit korea, it's definitely 눈나무집 aka "snow tree house" (literal translation)
located in samchungdong, which is my favorite place in korea, this famous restaurant really is dream-come-true!

why?
not only do they have the best cold kimchee noodle (김치말이국수), the price is so affordable!
yup! a bowl of kimchee noodle is only 5000won which is around $5!

i've already been here few times, but surely, they didn't disappoint me with their clean taste!
떡갈비 (rice cake kalbi) is another one of their specialty & it went so well with 동동주 (dongdongju) which i tried for the very first time!

so if you are ever in seoul, i highly recommend that you check out samchungdong because if i really love that neighborhood! and if u are in samchungdong, make sure to check out this restaurant! you won't regret it ;)

12-course korean meal

my trip to korea was all about food x food x food
& i am finally starting to post my crazy food-adventure photos from korea!

i literally only have photos of food from korea this time,
because the weather was freezing outside and the only time i took out my camera was when i was eating...inside...
...yup!

first up: 12-course korean meal!
they promoted themselves to be a traditional korean food, but i think it's more of a modernized fusion korean
nevertheless, i thoroughly enjoyed the never-ending food that surely filled me  up!
